Coming in March – The Art & STEM of Mardi Gras -STEM Saturday
Exciting news Mobile! Our next event will provide an incredible opportunity for students to learn about the science of electroluminescence while also celebrating Mardi Gras in style. Students will have the chance to design, build, and test their own Mardi Gras floats, incorporating the fascinating phenomenon of electroluminescence.
Electroluminescence is a fascinating scientific concept that occurs when an electric field interacts with a solid, resulting in the emission of light. In other words, when electricity is passed through a material, it can cause the material to glow. This phenomenon has many practical applications, from lighting up digital displays to creating illuminated clothing.
At our event, students will learn all about electroluminescence and how it works. They will also get to apply their knowledge by incorporating this technology into the design of their Mardi Gras floats. Imagine a float that lights up in vibrant colors as it makes its way down the parade route!
This event will be a hands-on experience for students, providing them with the opportunity to get creative and explore their own ideas. They will be tasked with designing and building their own floats using a variety of materials and tools. The highlight of the event will be the float testing, where students will get to see their designs in action and witness the magic of electroluminescence firsthand.
Overall, this event promises to be an exciting and educational experience for all involved. Not only will students learn about the science of electroluminescence, but they will also get to explore their creativity and have fun building their own Mardi Gras floats. We can’t wait to see what they come up with!
